Our Story
U.S. T&E delivers the knowledge transfer and physical skills necessary for “performance on demand shooting” across a multitude of weapons platforms through realistic scenarios and proven training techniques to develop responsible firearms owners. The focus is to provide the students the “why” to drive home the importance of refining these skills when it matters most to their specific needs. At the end of each course students will take away a better understanding of their capabilities, training homework, and a network of other trusted instructors/ resources from across the country to continue pushing their development.

Specializing in Performance Shooting with practical application.
John Ketteman derives his talents in performance shooting capabilities, programs and competitions from years of experienceand formal training – both miliary and competition – resulting in a tactical skillset that is mostsought-after.
Military Background: Enlisting in the Ohio Army National Guard as Infantryman in 2012, he was later commissioned in 2015 as an Army Transportation Officer in 5th Special Forces Group. He directly supported counter ISIS operations in Syria in 2017and 2018. He conducted aerial delivery, desert mobility resupply missions and served as the Quick Reaction Force along the Front Line of troops for US and Coalition Special Operation Forces while working alongside SDF partner force. John has led 200+ Tactical Convoys with Standard and Non Standard Tactical Vehicles across semi and non permissive environments in North East Syria. In 2019, he passed Special Forces Assessment and Selection and attended the Qualification course for two years, then was medically separated from the Army in 2023.
Having spent over a decade in the military, his formal training includes: Unconventional Logistics Advanced Planners Course, 18A Course, SERE Level C, ASSET NSTV Drivers Training Course, Army Special Operations Captains Career Course, ATAK, Foreign Weapons Familiarization and Implementation, Airborne School and Air Assault School. John’s awards include the Bronze Star (x2), Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault badge.
His academic pursuits earned him a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati.
John’s experience includes learning, working, and shooting alongside former JSOC Operators ,USPSA Grandmasters, World Multigun Champions, Special Forces Soldiers and school house instructors, SWAT Officers, and many other instructors/professional competitive shooters. This includes top instructors such Dan Horner (3 Gun World Champ 16x), Chris Tilley (multiple World Champion in IPSC/ USPSA), Fred Fusco (retired Navy Seal, owner of Storm Tactical Consulting), Shane Primm (Odin's Spear), Zee Durham (Instructor Zee), and many more top performers in Multi Gun and USPSA from around the country.
He is most influenced by his friend, colleague and co teacher, retired Sergeant Major Dutch Chris Moyer – notable firearms instructor, decorated military veteran & JSOC Operator – of whom he originally trained under. Accompanying Dutch at the Ohio Tactical Officers Association, and the North Carolina Tactical Officers Association where guest instructors are invited to showcase their talents at their annual conferences – John’s style is highly valued in the MIL/LEO environments. He possesses years of teaching Pistol, Rifle, CQB, and Night Vision to Active Duty Army Special Forces, SWAT Officers and Civilians.
John has competed in 100+USPSA, 3Gun, and Run & Gun events - taking first place in many such the Legion Memorial Run & Gun, Tactical Games, Skirmishes, The Gun Runs, and numerous USPSA and 3Gun matches in KY, TN, NC, and SC.
Among the top industry titans, he was sponsored by Spikes Tactical, Troy Industries, Thril, Layer X Suppresors, Zerotech Optics and the Nashville Tactical Lounge, Close Quarters Kydex. J
John is available CONUS – nationwide – to conduct tactical training upon request. When he is not traveling, he is teaching classes with Dutch at the Sawmill Training Center – known to thefamous faces of marksmenship, the warrior elite. He also spends his time at Kentucky’s Longest PublicRange in Hopkinsville where he is involved in the Legion 9/11 Memorial Run & Gun 10k and LegionTeam Sniper Challenge in addition to being the Match Director overseeing their frequent competitionsfor Tenet Group’s Midnight Madness Night Vision Run & Gun, monthly Outlaw Matches (Long Range Precision, 4Gun , Lift &Shoots), and the Offroad Shooting Series which all bring in top shooters and big-name sponsors from around the country.
